A 40km on-road cycle route around Lough Gill, passing through some of the most scenic areas of County Sligo and Leitrim.
This is by far the most popular spin route in the Sligo area. Take the Dromahair road via Ballinode junction with the N16 and follow Lough Gill in a clockwise direction.
Take in the breath-taking beauty as you pass Parkes Castle.
Following Dromahair keep right at garage and after about 4km keep right for Sligo at the Innisfree Island junction. The lake again comes into view at Slish wood. Take the gentle climbs here and at Dooney wood. The steepest climb is at Aughamore passing the old Lake View school on the right.
At Carraroe roundabout take the hard shoulder on the dual carriageway or alternatively take the old Pearse road route into Sligo town and back to base.
